I like having instant oatmeal since I always seem hurried for breakfast. I chose the original flavor with 7 whole grains, which is similar to many other plain flavored oatmeal brands that are available with the exception that it is gluten free.
The texture is a little less chunky and more smooth than your quaker variety oatmeal, reminding me of cream of wheat (without the wheat of course!), but better.
It contains oats, amaranth, inulin, flaxseed, chia, quinoa, sorghum, buckwheat and millet.
Since the taste for the original variety is rather plain, as you might expect, I like to add a handful of raw walnuts to the bowl as well as a small handful of dried wild blueberries. I've also used fresh blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries in place of the dried blueberries, and it worked out well.
In addition to the original flavor, they have other varieties including Apples & Cinnamon and Maple & Brown Sugar. As expected, these flavored varieties have a whole lot more taste and are great, but they are about ten times sweeter than the original variety.
Since sugar is something I have tried to cut down on to improve my gut health, I opt for the varieties with less added sugar. That goes with most foods, and then I can add any sweetness with fruits. Some raw honey might be a good addition too, if you need that extra sweet kick.
If you are the hungry type in the morning, you might try mixing one packet of original with one of their other packets like Apples & Cinnamon. In this way, you still get lots of flavor, but about half the sugar that you would normally get with two flavored packets.
This is a good solid 3.5 stars out of 5
