Domino's GF Pizza

I have not tried to Domino's Gluten Free Pizza. I have Celiac Disease, and Domino's has not recommended their gluten free pizza for those with Celiac Disease. The reasoning is that the crust (which is a certified gluten free crust) is prepared in a common kitchen, using some of the same ingredients and the same utensils as the other pizzas. They also state that they do not have a separate area in the kitchen that is designated gluten free and that there is a risk of gluten exposure.

I commend Domino's for their willingness to try out a new gluten free menu item, and for their fairly extensive FAQ section on their website. They even answer questions about gluten, the difference between Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivity, and which ingredients in their store contain gluten. Domino's seem to care and wants to their customers to know that they have been educated themselves by the NFCA (National Foundation for Celiac Awareness). The NFCA provides resources to the food industries and trains them about people who need to follow a gluten free lifestyle for medical reasons.

I don't believe I'll be trying out this pizza because of my disease, but perhaps others who might not have as much sensitivity as others might want to give it a go.

Re: Has anyone tried Domino's GF pizza yet?

We have tried the pizza, and as far as gluten free pizza goes, it's not bad.

Dominos only makes gluten free pizza in one size, and that's a small. You can have any toppings on it you want, but it's really up to you. My girlfriend has a gluten intolerance. So when friends wanted pizza, it was a viable option to go with Dominos.

We had it as delivery about a week ago.

The pizza comes flat (which is often the case with gluten free pizza) and no “crust”. Visually and texturally, I’d say that it closely resembles matzo bread. It’s hard, crisp and flat.

We did just a cheese pizza, and it’s not horrible. Honestly, I am not a fan of Dominos, and find it tastes pretty close to cardboard. So, with the pizza arriving and kind of looking like cardboard, perhaps my expectations weren’t very high. However, it really was not bad. I don’t know if I would go out and buy the pizza again on purpose. We’d probably just make our homemade pizzas. It’s more fun for us, we get to do something together, and we are sure of its ingredients.

Still, I applaud Dominos, as well, for trying to provide a menu for those with a different lifestyle choice, or health needs.
